What Is RustDesk?

RustDesk is a free, open-source program that lets us see your screen and control your mouse and keyboard, but only when you give us permission. Think of it like having a tech-savvy friend look over your shoulder, except they can actually click things for you.

It's safe, it's free, and when you close it, we lose access immediately. No spying, no staying connected in the background. You're always in control.

Step 1: Download RustDesk

Click the button below to go to the RustDesk download page. Choose the version that matches your computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux).

Chrome users: Your browser might try to block the download. If you see a warning, click "Keep" or "Download anyway." The file is safe.

RustDesk is free and open-source software. It does not cost anything to download or use.

Step 2: Run It

Once the download finishes:

1

Find the downloaded file. It's usually in your Downloads folder.

2

Double-click it to run. If your computer asks "are you sure?" just click Yes. It's safe.

3

RustDesk will open. You'll see a window with your ID and a One-time Password.

Step 3: Read Us the ID and One-time Password

Once RustDesk is open, you'll see two things on screen:

  • Your ID - a string of numbers at the top
  • Your One-time Password - below the ID

Just read both of those to us over the phone. That's all we need to connect and start helping you.

Reminder: Everything we do on your screen during the support session may be recorded and published on YouTube. We'll always tell you before we start recording.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is RustDesk safe?

Yes. RustDesk is open-source, meaning anyone can inspect the code. It doesn't install anything sneaky, and it only connects when you give someone your ID and password. When you close it, the connection is gone.

Can you access my computer after we hang up?

No. Once you close RustDesk or end the session, we have no access whatsoever. The one-time password changes each time, so even if you leave RustDesk open, we can't reconnect without a new one.

Do I need to keep RustDesk installed?

Only if you think you might call again. You can uninstall it any time. There's nothing it leaves behind.
